Even a billionaire can’t buy love...

I’d suffered from emophilia my entire life, falling in love so fast it would make your head spin. That’s what happened when I met Brett. Bam! I instantly fell in love. He was every woman’s fantasy and the most eligible bachelor in Las Vegas. The man went through gorgeous women like most people went through tissues.

As an average girl with too many curves, a quirky personality, and a tendency to ramble, my life wasn’t all glitz and glam. I was a personal assistant at a top hotel in Vegas, helped out at my parents’ struggling bookstore, and cared for an ornery cat. What were the chances a guy like him would fall for a girl like me? I’d say a billion to one, but love was worth the risk, so I gambled my heart away.

Being a billionaire bachelor, I never lacked attention from gorgeous women. I enjoyed their company, but one-night rendezvous were my specialty. No strings. No complications. I was more interested in proving myself capable of running Kingston Enterprises after my father’ death than I was in having a relationship.

But then, in an unexpected encounter, a witty brunette caught my eye. She wasn’t my type at all. In fact, we were total opposites, but there was something about her that intrigued me. Penny had me breaking all my rules. I’d give her anything she asked for, except the one thing she wanted most… my heart.

The lights of my car lit up as I clicked the fob. Penny stopped dead at the curb. “This is your car?”

I opened the door for her. “It’s one of them.”

“It’s a Ferrari,” she said with wide eyes.

“Very good. Now are you going to get in it?” I smirked.

“I don’t feel worthy.”

I rolled my eyes. “Don’t be ridiculous. Get in the car, Penny.”

She lowered herself onto the seat. I closed her door and ran around to the other side, slipping in before some idiot ran me over.

“This is the softest thing I’ve ever had under my butt,” she said to herself, rubbing the leather.

I chuckled. “You realize you said that aloud?”

“Actually, I didn’t… but yeah… my butt is in love with your car.” She wiggled her ass back and forth on the seat. “Who am I to stand in the way of love?”

I shook my head in amusement as I pulled away from the curb. “You’re quirky, you know that?”

Penny shrugged her shoulders. “I’ve been called worse. I have a bad habit of saying whatever’s on my mind, even if it’s totally inappropriate. My mom says they forgot to give me a filter between my brain and my mouth. My dad says it’s because there’s too much running through my head that sometimes I have to purge. Unfortunately, that usually ends up as word vomit. I used to get in trouble a lot as a kid. Teachers had my parents on speed dial. I’ve gotten better as I’ve gotten older, but sometimes it still slips out. Like right now. I have no idea why I told you all that.” She pressed her fingers to her lips. “So… tell me about you.”

My lips curled up on one side at her cuteness. “What do you want to know?”

“I want to know about your fancy job. What exactly do you do to afford this car my butt’s in love with?”

“I’m in mergers and acquisitions.”

“See. Fancy,” she huffed. “No offense, but it sounds boring.”

“None taken.” I chuckled. “It’s not boring. I like the adrenaline of sealing deals and making money.” I pulled up in front of the hotel, frustratingly disappointed that our time together was over. “If you have any questions about those files, don’t hesitate to call. Give me your phone.” She handed it over and I texted myself. “Now I have your number and you have mine. Don’t be shy about using it.”

“Okay. Thanks for everything.” She got out, removed my suit coat from her shoulders, and laid it across the seat. Shutting the door, she leaned through the window, giving me a fantastic view of her cleavage. “I have one more question. Are you happy?”

Nobody ever asked me that before. I had a dream job, a penthouse to die for, and beautiful women at my beck and call. “I’m happy enough.”

Her lips scrunched to the side. “Happy enough isn’t really happy though, is it? You should do something about that.” Then she waved her fingers at me. “Toodles.”

All I could do was stare at her retreating ass that filled out her skirt quite nicely. She was a puzzle I couldn’t figure out. My fingers tapped against the steering wheel.

What do you do with a girl like Penny? And why did my car smell like strawberries on a summer day?
